Beyond Space is a residence for artists located in San Potito Sannitico, a village of about 2000 inhabitants, located at the foot of the Matese mountain in the province of Caserta. It is an ancient palace of the town, distributed on three floors with a large garden located in the historic center.
Some of the spaces have been adapted to new needs, others have remained unchanged.
The cellar, once a wine, oil and preserves deposit, is now a dark room and an engraving space with a etching press of 1 x 2 m. and a bromograph, both built with makeshift materials.
The large dining room of 25 square meters, where every Sunday the Family met, and has a little secret table, that once opened, can seat up to 20 people, is now the main laboratory, an open space that you can use according to the necessity.
Grandpa Vincenzo’s studio, which has remained intact, is a space for thinking and creating, with a library full of curiosities and a media library consisting of a collection of local and international journeys and stories that he himself took up and edited, with different cameras, such as a super8, still in use.
The veranda, once used by grandmother Teresa to sew and listen to the radio, turned on at morning and turned off at night before going to bed, is a very bright space, suitable for reading and writing, as well as for community sharing.
The kitchen, a favorite place of Aunt Iole, has changed little, but is always provided with large pots and endless dishes to accommodate entire armies of passers-by.
Given the position of the house, located in the upper part of the town, from the terrace you can observe most of the town, with mountains upstream and the great valley of the Volturno river, where every evening a different sunset falls.
The residence, with two double bedrooms, one of which with private bathroom, can accommodate two people at the same time, or two couples, even with children.
Participation is via an open application throughout the year.
For artists / travelers coming from countries where it is not easy to get an exit visa, and buy a ticket, we offer the possibility of residence, legal and travel expenses, upon presentation of the project to be carried out on site; all those projects that actively involve citizenship will be positively evaluated.
For all other artists the participation fee is 650 euros per month, however exceptions are provided for those who propose workshops and activities to be carried out on site, which will be evaluated upon the presentation of the project.
