The course will cover a wide range of practical skills and knowledge relating to the restoration of furniture or wooden objects or paintings. You’ll have the opportunity to work on your own projects, which may include decorated objects, gilded antiques and polished antiquities. It’s recommended that beginners without a project purchase a box-shaped antique, such as a writing slope, tea caddy or jewellery box, as these objects often allow for a multitude of practical restoration applications.
The course includes:
- A theoretical part that will introduce you to the world of restoration, will explain the basic concepts and techniques to be able to face the work you are going to do;
- A practical part of the laboratory, which will teach you the techniques with which you can carry out the restoration of your work. In the laboratory of our residence you will find all the material you need and you will be followed step by step by the restorer who will help you achieve your goal.
The tutor Vittorio Scappaticcio, has been a Senior Restorer and Conservator for over 20 years, working on paintings, decorative furniture and wooden artefacts for different institutions.
